Tape Library Option
The following issues relating to the Tape Library Option are known to exist in this release:
- The option does not support multistreaming. If you enable multistreaming, then install the Enterprise Module Option.
- If you receive the error message "Windows - No Disk". Please insert a disk into drive \Device\HardDiskx\DRx", then exclude the tapeeng.exe process from scanning by eTrust. To exclude the tapeeng.exe process from scanning, perform the following procedure:
- In the Realtime Monitor Options dialog of eTrust, click the Filters tab.
- On the Filters tab, in the Exclusions group box, click the Process button. The Exclude Processes dialog opens.
- In the Exclude Processes dialog, enter tapeeng.exe in the Enter a process name field and click Add. The tapeeng.exe process appears in the List of Excluded Processes.
- Click OK to close the Exclude Processes dialog and click OK to exit the Realtime Monitor Options dialog.
- Tape Engine may corrupt the device view structure of RSM. Some storage devices cannot be used by the Tape Engine and RSM simultaneously. To restore the device view structure of the removable storage service, stop the Tape Engine and restart the removable storage service.
- When RAID group media details are deleted from the Arcserve Database, merge MB written value displays 0.
- Note: The written value displays correct if you do not delete the RAID media group details from Arcserve database.
- If you want to import a cleaning tape with a barcode prefix that is not CLN, or has no barcode, choose one of the following tasks to avoid unrecognized media errors:
- Open Library Properties, select Clean by Slot, add a slot into Clean Slots. Import the cleaning tape into the Clean Slot.
- Open Library Properties, select Clean by Barcode, enter the barcode prefix or whole barcode of the cleaning tape. Import the cleaning tape into any slot of the tape library.
- Arcserve Backup cannot automatically disable Removable Storage Manager (RSM) devices on 64-bit systems. The Tape Engine is automatically started after Arcserve Backup is installed and the Tape Engine Auto Configuration cannot configure RSM devices correctly. Warning message W6978 appears in the Activity Log. If you are running Arcserve Backup on a 64-bit system, you must manually disable backup devices in RSM to avoid this problem. On a 64-bit system, you will not be able to perform this using the Arcserve Backup Manager Console because it cannot display any RSM-controlled devices for enabling or disabling.
- If you are running the Arcserve Backup Manager Console on a 64-bit system, then disable RSM so that Arcserve Backup can use the device. To disable RSM, perform one of the following:
- If Arcserve Backup has already been installed:
- Stop the Tape Engine. Disable RSM-controlled devices using the RSM Computer Management utility. Restart the Tape Engine.
- If Arcserve Backup has not yet been installed:
- Attach the library to the Server. Reboot the Server. Disable RSM-controlled devices using the RSM Computer Management utility. Install Arcserve Backup.
- If Arcserve Backup has already been installed:
