Append Media
In addition to the backup options, you can apply options to the destination (media) you have selected. You have the option of overwriting existing jobs or appending to the existing jobs on the media. Appending data to media places the new backup job after any previous backup jobs, leaving the previous backup jobs untouched.
You append data to media currently in the scratch set of your GFS media pools.
To append data to existing media, click Enable GFS on the Quick Access Panel. Non-GFS (standard) rotations can also append to media, by selecting the Append Media button on the Rotation Rules screen.
Append Media Limitations:
- In the beginning of the week, a blank backup media is used.
Note: If you use a 5 day rotation schedule, the beginning of the week is Monday. If you use a 7 day rotation schedule, the beginning of the week is Sunday.
- Any full backup job uses blank media.
- Any job after a full backup uses blank media.
- The Append media option is limited to using the incremental or differential backup method.
