How to Restore the Arcserve Backup Database
There are several methods that you can use to restore the Arcserve Backup database. The following list describes these methods and includes a description of any special considerations or limitations associated with the method.
Important! Microsoft SQL Server database architecture and Arcserve Backup sessions are quite different from that of Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Express. If you attempt to restore Microsoft SQL Server data with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Express backup sessions, or, conversely, restore Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Express with Microsoft SQL Server backup sessions, the recovery process can corrupt your data.
- Standard Restore - Backed up in the Arcserve Backup domain that is using the database--This restore method can be used in the following scenarios:
- The Arcserve Backup database was backed up in the Arcserve Backup domain that is using the database.
- The Arcserve Backup database is on line and functioning properly.
- You want to restore the Arcserve Backup database to a particular point in time.
Note: You can restore the Arcserve Backup database to its original location or a different location.
- Standard Restore - Backed up in a different Arcserve Backup domain--This restore method can be used in the following scenarios:
- The database was backed up in an Arcserve Backup domain that is different from the Arcserve Backup domain that is using the database.
- The Arcserve Backup database is on line and functioning properly.
- You want to restore the Arcserve Backup database to a particular point in time.
Note: For SQL Server 2019 Express installations, you must restore the Arcserve Backup database to its original location. For SQL Server installations, you can restore the Arcserve Backup database to its original or a different location.
