Arcserve UDP Integration
Arcserve Backup integrates with Arcserve UDP so that you can do the following:
- Manage Arcserve UDP servers from a central location.
- Arcserve UDP backups running on a local disk or shared folder.
- Arcserve UDP agent-based backups to local disks adds the nodes to Arcserve UDP Agent for Windows.
- Arcserve UDP agentless/Host-Based Backups (HBBU) to a local disk or shared folder adds the HBBU proxy to Arcserve UDP proxy servers.
- Note: For multiple Arcserve UDP agent-based backups to the same shared folder, we recommend to add the node holding the Arcserve UDP backup destination to Arcserve UDProxy server.
- Arcserve UDP backups running on a data store.
- For both agent-based and agentless backups to data store, the RPS server is added to the "Arcserve UDP Recovery Point Servers".
- Create Arcserve Backup sessions from Arcserve UDP backup data.
- Back up Arcserve UDP backup sessions stored locally on Arcserve UDP servers to Arcserve Backup media.
- Back up Arcserve UDP backup sessions stored remotely on proxy servers and remote shares (for example, NFS volumes on Linux servers) to Arcserve Backup media.
- Note: Arcserve Backup executes the backup from the server where the Arcserve UDP backup sessions reside; not from the Arcserve UDP server.
- Back up Arcserve UDP data using multistreaming.
- Store Arcserve Backup sessions on tape media (libraries), disk (file system devices), and network shares.
- Recover Arcserve UDP backup data at file and folder level granularity from Arcserve Backup media.
- Recover Microsoft SQL Server databases and Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes at application level granularity from Arcserve Backup media.
Be aware of the following:
- The Arcserve Backup Client Agent for Windows must be installed on the Arcserve UDP servers to allow Arcserve Backup to communicate with and integrate with Arcserve UDP.
- Note: The Arcserve Backup Client Agent for Windows can be installed on the proxy server if the proxy server option is used to back up Arcserve UDP servers.
- The following sections describe how to integrate Arcserve UDP servers into your Arcserve Backup environment. For information about how to back up Arcserve UDP backup sessions and how to recover data from Arcserve Backup backup sessions, see the Administration Guide.
