Device Management Functions

Using the Device Manager, you can perform device management tasks for your tape libraries and tape RAID libraries.

The following functions are library specific and are accessible only if the device supports the capability.

• Inventory the slot range.
• Note: Because Arcserve Backup is slot-based, when you insert or remove media into or from a magazine slot, you must either inventory the slot or remount the magazine.
• Format the slot range.
• Erase the slot range.
• Eject media from the library drives.
• Online and Offline drives.
• Retension the tapes.
• Mount or Dismount the magazines.
• Clean media.
• Import and export media.
• Compress data on the media.
• Rebuild media option - RAID devices only.
• Offline and online removable drives.
• Configure library groups.

Important! If you are manually inserting media into a library, always insert media into slots, never into its library drives.
