Warning AW390103

Waiting for Db Extractor's response; ckpdb may be stalled due to open database transactions (see ckpdb.log.pid in the agent's logs directory)

Module

Enterprise Option for Advantage Ingres

Reason:

The Ingres ckpdb utility may be stalled on open database transactions. To start a database backup, ckpdb must wait for all open database transactions to either be committed or rolled back. After there are no open transactions, ckpdb creates a checkpoint of the database and following this, new transactions can be performed on the database while the backup is running.

Action:

Check the ckpdb.log.pid file in the agent's logs directory for messages of this form: "Preparing stall of database, active xact cnt: number of open transactions".

These types of messages indicate that the backup cannot be started until open transactions are either committed of rolled back. It could be that a process has already started database updates and is now stalled or it could be that a user updated the database but did not commit these updates and/or exit the session with the database server.

If the ckpdb.log.pid file does not exist, was not created recently, or recent messages of this form do not appear within it, then the Enterprise Option for Advantage Ingres may be experiencing other problems. For more information about this error, check the Enterprise Option for Advantage Ingres Data Mover log file (ingresd.log) located at the agent's logs directory. You can also check the Ingres installation's error log file at $II_SYSTEM/ingres/files/errlog.log for other possible causes of this error.
