Note: This feature only applies if you are using the Arcserve Backup Tape Library Option.
For libraries with multiple storage drives, the Arcserve Backup Tape Library Option takes maximum advantage of all available drives when assigning jobs.
When a job is submitted, or a device management option is selected, Arcserve Backup checks for available drives in the library. If a library has more than one physical drive, the additional drives are used to assign new jobs to the same or a different group.
For example, if a library has two drives, and Drive 1 is being used to process a job for GROUP_1, a second job for GROUP_1 can be processed simultaneously by Drive 2.
You can submit additional jobs to the same group or a different group. If a job is being performed for a group, GROUP0 for example, Arcserve Backup will begin additional backup or restore jobs for the group as long as additional drives are available.
Note: Do not attempt media spanning unless you are sure that no additional jobs are being submitted to the same group on a separate drive.
