After the installation is complete and the Arcserve Backup Tape Engine is started for the first time, the entire library is inventoried. For all subsequent starts, the normal inventory process can be skipped by enabling the Library Quick Initialization feature either during installation or through Library Setup.
The Library Quick Initialization feature assumes that no media has been moved, added, removed, or swapped since the last shutdown. If media has been moved, added, removed, or swapped, you should either manually inventory the entire library or the specific slots whose status has changed. For all subsequent starts, you can skip the normal inventory process by enabling the Quick Initialization feature either during installation or through setup used in non-bar code libraries.
