The Rebuild option lets you rebuild missing or bad media in a Level 5 RAID media set. This feature is supported for Tape Drive RAID as well as Tape Library RAID.
RAID 5 facilitates continuation of backup jobs even if one of the media or tape drives fail. It is preferable that after replacing the faulty media (or media drive) that you rebuild the missing media to keep the RAID set complete, so that future failures can be tolerated.
Note: RAID 5 can only support one drive failure.
You do not have to choose the source or target drives. Just insert the incomplete RAID set and BLANK media into the media drives, and click the Rebuild toolbar button from the Device Manager window. For Library RAIDs, a blank tape should be available in the library.
