Configure the Client Agent for Windows

To configure the Client Agent for your Windows machine, perform the following procedure:

  1. From the Client Agent Admin dialog, click the Configuration tab. The Configuration page opens.
  2. Specify one or more of the following options:

Option

Description

System Security

The Client Agent uses the Windows Security for authentication.

Password Security

Require the Arcserve Backup user to specify a password in order to backup or restore to this machine.

IP Address

Enter an IP address to override the default IP address. For machines with more than one network card, the Client Agent selects one IP address by default. Use this option to override the default address.

Pre/Post execution programs

Enter the names of batch programs to be automatically executed before or after the backup operation:

  • Pre-execution-Batch program run before the backup job.
  • Post-execution-Batch program run after the backup job.
  • Execution-Period of time the agent waits between the backup job and the execution of the batch job.

  1. Click OK when done. The configuration options are stored until you change them.

Using Multiple Network Interface Cards

The Client Agent supports the use of multiple Network Interface Cards. If your machine uses more than one network card, the agent will select the IP address for one of the cards by default. You can manually override this choice by selecting one of the IP addresses from the Network Configuration dialog.
