Configure a Simple Rotation Scheme

To configure a rotation scheme, perform the following procedure:

1. If it is not already activated, activate the Use Rotation Scheme check box.

   The Use Rotation Scheme dialog appears.

2. From the Scheme Name drop-down box at the top of the panel, select the type of rotation scheme you want.

   For more information on these standard schemes, see Using the Calendar View to Modify Your Rotation Scheme.

3. Specify whether you want GFS rotation. To create three media pools (daily, weekly, monthly) for a GFS scheme, select Enable GFS.
   • If you select Enable GFS: in the space labeled Media Pool Name Prefix, type the prefix for the names of the Monthly, Weekly, and Daily media pools. Arcserve Backup automatically creates and names these media pools using this prefix when the first backup job is run.
   • To specify a simple rotation scheme (single media pool), leave the GFS option unselected.

   If you leave Enable GFS unselected, select a media pool from the list of available media pools in the drop-down box or enter the name of the new media pool you want Arcserve Backup to create.

4. Customize your selected rotation scheme.

5. Click Save As to name and save your scheme.
6. Click Start.

   The backup job runs according the rotation scheme you have set up.
