Create Disaster Recovery Boot Diskettes

To create Disaster Recovery Disks, perform the following procedure:

  1. Select Arcserve Backup Navigation Bar or Home Page to access the Boot Kit Wizard.
  2. Choose Create Boot Disks, and click Next.

    The Select Arcserve Backup Server dialog appears, containing a list of available Arcserve Backup servers.

  3. Choose the appropriate Arcserve Backup server (the server that backed up your machine for which you want to create the DR Boot disks) and click OK. The Boot Disk Wizard appears.

    The Wizard displays a list of machines that have been backed up by Arcserve Backup.

    Note: If Arcserve Backup has not backed up a machine, the panel is blank.

  4. Choose a machine and click OK.
  5. Select the machine from the list of servers backed up and click Next, and the Disaster Recovery Welcome window appears.
  6. Click Next.

    The Disaster Recovery Welcome window appears.

  7. Click Next again.

    The Boot Disk Wizard window appears.

  8. Click Next.
  9. After the Arcserve Backup Disaster Recovery Engine disk is complete, insert the disk labeled Windows Setup Boot Disk and click Start.
  10. When prompted, insert the disk labeled Windows Setup Disk 2 and press Start.
  11. When prompted, insert the disk labeled Windows Setup Disk 3 and press Start.

    The boot disk utility copies all necessary disaster recovery files to the disk.

  12. Click Next.
  13. Insert the Arcserve Backup Machine-Specific disk to create the disk for recovering your specific machine and press Start.
  14. Click Finish.

The Disaster Recovery (DR) Wizard has finished creating a set of Disaster Recovery disks that you can use in the event of a disaster. Remember to use the DR Wizard to update your disks whenever you make a modification to your machine's operating environment, such as changing your network card.

Note: It is essential that you create and update your DR disks for your Arcserve Backup local machine on a regular basis.
