Media Read/Write Problems

I am having trouble writing information to, or reading information from, my media. What should I do?

Check the following:

• If you have not yet used the tape drive, check the hardware configuration.
• Check all the board settings on the host adapter card.
• Verify that the firmware of the tape drive has the latest update and has been certified by Arcserve.
• Check the termination of the bus. The first and last device on the bus should be terminated.
• Clean the tape drive heads. Regular cleaning of tape drive heads is required to get the most from your equipment.
• Check the brand of tape you are using. Use only manufacturer suggested brand media.
