Data Path and Control Path Interfaces

Before starting the installation, you must establish the following Enterprise Tape Library 3494 communications:

• The SCSI or fibre channel data path between the CA ARCserve Backup server and the Enterprise Tape Library 3494 tape drives.
• The Ethernet LAN control path between the IBM Automated Tape Library service on the CA ARCserve Backup server and the Enterprise Tape Library 3494.

  You can establish the Ethernet LAN connectivity by adding a LAN host to the Enterprise Tape Library 3494 server. The LAN host specified for the Enterprise Tape Library 3494 server must match the host name specified on the CA ARCserve Backup server.

  Note: You can use the mtlib command to verify the status and connectivity of the Ethernet LAN control path between the IBM Library Manager Client and the IBM Library Manager Server.
