Automatic Library Configuration

The automatic library configuration method determines which tape drives in the StorageTek ACSLS library are connected to the CA ARCserve Backup server. Use this method if all tape drives in the StorageTek ACSLS library are of the same type.

The CA ARCserve Backup server performs the following device detection and verification tasks during automatic library configuration:

• Unloads all the tape drives in the StorageTek ACSLS library
• Loads the first tape drive
• Verifies the loaded tape drive
• Receives tape drive connection verification
• Unloads the first tape drive
• Repeats this verification process for each tape drive
• Reports the tape drive information on the Drive Configuration dialog

Note: The automatic library configuration method does not support a mixture of different types of tape volumes.
