Add an Agent in Group View

You can add a single agent in group view.

To add an agent in group view:

  1. Open Backup Manager and click the Source tab.

    The Backup Manager opens, showing the default Classic View.

  2. Click the View drop-down list and select Group View.

    The source tree updates, listing Arcserve Backup agents as main branches.

  3. Right-click an application group.

    A pop-up menu opens.

  4. Choose Add Machine/Object from the pop-up menu.

    The Add Agent dialog opens.

  5. Enter the correct Host Name for the client machine. You can connect to the Arcserve Backup host with an IP address. Type the IP address in the fields provided.

    If you select the Use Computer Name Resolution option in the Add Agent dialog, Arcserve Backup attempts to connect to the client machine using the Machine Name of the client computer and accepts the IP address assigned. The Use Computer Name Resolution option allows administrators to use either static or dynamic IP addresses to connect to the agent.

  6. Enter the username and password.
  7. Click OK.

    The system will connect to the machine and browse the agents installed on the machine. With the result, it will know which application groups the machine belongs to. For example, if the Client Agent and Microsoft SQL Server Agent are detected on the machine, the machine will be added under the Client Agent application group and the Microsoft SQL Server application group.
