System Maintenance

Make sure you back up the Arcserve Backup databases

Whenever you back up your entire network machine, the Arcserve Backup databases are backed up as well. Always maintain a current backup of your Arcserve Backup database files so that recovering from a disaster is made easier.

Always maintain current backups

The most important thing you can do to ensure against data loss is to maintain current backups of all your network machines. If you do not have these backups, then Arcserve Backup is limited in its ability to recover against data loss or disaster. Be sure to create a media rotation scheme using different backup methods and scheduling as a means of maintaining current backups.

If something happens to any machine between full backups, then you can recover using the last full backup made and the most recent differential backup (which contains all the modifications to the data since the last full backup).

Use the following books if you need to use Arcserve Backup to recover a network machine:

In addition, you should have the appropriate installation disks/media with you.
