Arcserve Backup allows you to verify that your data was correctly backed up to media. You can verify the data for the entire backup job, or for a selected drive that is included in your backup job. The global verification options (applied to the entire job) are overridden by the options selected for a drive.
Scan Backup Media Contents
Check the header of each file on the backup media. If the header is readable, Arcserve Backup assumes the data is reliable. If the header is not readable, the Activity Log is updated with this information. Of the two verification methods, this one is faster.
Compare Backup Media to Disk
Read blocks of data from the media and compares the data, byte for byte, against the source files on the source machine. This option is more time consuming, but it ensures that all data on the media is exactly as it is on disk. If Arcserve Backup finds a mismatch, the Activity Log is updated with this information.
