Media Server
Reason:
This error occurs while positioning the media from the starting point of the backup job and can be generated by one or more of the following reasons:
- A media or tape drive error occurred while positioning the media. Confirm the error condition from either the Activity log or the Tape log from where the Media server registered the error condition.
- If the error code is 170, an Early Warning was detected on the media indicating that the media is full and that the backup job cannot write to this media.
- A Media server-specific internal error occurred while positioning the media. This error occurs if the Media server encounters an invalid state, causing media positioning to fail.
When this error occurs, the child multiplexing job and the parent multiplexing job fail.
Action:
To address this error message, perform the following, based on the cause of the error:
- If this error occurred because of media or tape drive errors, follow the actions recommended for media or tape drive-specific errors displayed before this error message.
- If this error is an Early Warning, load a blank media to continue the Backup job.
- For internal errors, view the Tape logs for further details.
- For additional information, view the Job and Activity logs.
- For both distributed and primary servers, view the Tape log in the SAN environment for more details.
- Ensure the Tape log is available.
