Error E6668
MUX: Could not allocate memory of size = <Memory Size> to read/write from/to tape. error = <Error Code>
Module
Tape Engine
Reason:
The backup or restore job failed because the system could not create enough shared memory to run the job. This can happen if the server is low on memory, possibly because too much memory is being utilized for other purposes or because other applications are consuming or leaking too much memory.
If the problem persists, contact Arcserve support for online technical assistance and a complete list of locations, primary service hours, and telephone numbers.
Action:
To address this error message, perform the following:
- If the system is low on memory, close unnecessary programs for the duration of the backup, or reduce the number of jobs running on the system.
- Use the Windows Task Manager or another tool to determine which processes are using too much memory and check for any applications that are leaking memory.
- The amount of memory consumed by a multiplexing job is directly proportional to the multiplexing chunk size. If the multiplexing chunk size is too high, reduce it. This can be done on the Advanced tab of the Global Options dialog in the Backup Manager. The default multiplexing chunk size of 1MB is recommended.
- Ensure that the Tape log is available.
