Reason:

The application which the writer represented is not installed or is not running. For example, if the Microsoft SQL server is not installed or the Microsoft SQL Server Service is not started, the number of components of MSDEWriter is zero and no data need to be backed up.

Action:

Check if the application which the writer represented is installed and is started and running.
