Error AE0290

The Client Agent machine cannot access the physical disk/volume in raw mode. (Client Agent Machine=[machine name], Device=[device name]), (EC=[error code], error string)

Reason:

This error message indicates one of the following:

1. The physical device is locked by some application.

2. The physical volume is not assigned a drive letter. Some operating systems (for example, Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows 2003 X64) may not allow reading such volumes; it may fail with an error "The device is not ready". For the same reason writing to the physical disks containing such volumes may not be allowed as well.

Action:

To address this error message, perform the following:

1. Confirm that the physical device is available for Arcserve Backup by releasing the device from the control of the application. For example, Oracle Cluster File System (OCFS) volumes may be locked by Oracle services which need to be stopped in order to back up the volume in raw mode.

2. Assign drive letter to the physical volume and run the job again.
