Reason:

Before backing up Arcserve Replication scenario replication data, the Arcserve Replication engine will take a shadow copy of the replication data and the Arcserve Backup agent will back up the data from the shadow copy. This error indicates that the Arcserve Replication engine is unable to create the shadow copy and is most likely caused by insufficient system resources, such as not enough disk space.

Action:

Verify that the disk used to hold the shadow copy still has enough free space.

Check the system event log for VSS-related errors.

Verify that the Arcserve Replication engine service is running.
