Arcserve Backup uses the concept of "groups."
Arcserve Backup allows you to separate the slots in your library into groups. If you have several slots in a group, you can take advantage of automated media spanning.
By default, the first time the Arcserve Backup Tape Engine is started, all of the slots in each library that you have attached to your machine are automatically assigned to a library group. For example, if you have two libraries attached to your machine, you will have two library groups. All of the slots in the first library will be assigned to GROUP0, and all of the slots in the second library will be assigned to GROUP1. You can keep these library group names, or you can regroup and rename them.
Note: If you are using a stand-alone drive in addition to your library, the stand-alone drive is not automatically assigned to a group. It must be assigned to a group manually. A stand-alone drive cannot be assigned to any library group. You cannot assign slots in different libraries to the same group.
