Password Protect Your Backup Job

You can specify a Session/Encryption password for an entire backup job or for data from a selected drive. The password is required in order to restore the data from media. You can select to compress or encrypt your backup files by selecting the appropriate check box. However, you must type the Session/Encryption password in Session/Encryption Password edit box in order to restore this session!

To specify a Session password for a selected drive:

  1. Select the Source tab.
  2. Right-click on the drive.

    The Source Context pop-up menu displays.

  3. Choose Option from the Source Context menu.

    The Local Option dialog appears.

  4. Enter the password for this drive in the Session/Encryption Password field.
  5. Click OK.

    The specified password is required to restore data from this drive.

To specify a Session password for the entire backup job:

  1. Click Options.
  2. Select the Backup Media tab in the Options dialog.
  3. Enter a password in the Session/Encryption password field.
  4. Click OK.

    Note: Your backup job is stored with the specified Session password.
