Add Oracle Database

This section provides information about how to add Oracle database.

Follow these steps:

  1. On the Sources screen, click Add Source(s) > Add Oracle Database.
  2. The Add Oracle Database screen appears.
  3. From the Sources drop-down list, select the source as needed.
  4. Wait until the list of databases available on the selected host appears and the drop-down list gets enabled.
  5. From the Databases drop-down list, do one of the following:
  6. Enter the system user credentials for Oracle database.
  7. Notes:
  8. For Options, specify the following:
  9. Delete archive logs from the source database after a successful backup
  10. Lets you delete the archive logs from the source database after a successful backup.
  11. No of channels
  12. Lets you select the number of channels or threads that you want to create for the backup job.
  13. Note: The maximum number of channels supported are 10.
  14. Enable block change tracking on the source database
  15. Lets you enable the block change tracking feature on the source database. Use this option to enhance the performance of the RMAN. It helps the RMAN utility or the binary to find the differential data faster and perform the backup job.
  16. Disable block change tracking on the source database
  17. Lets you disable the block change tracking feature on the source database.
  18. Note: Oracle supports the Disable block change tracking feature only for its Enterprise Edition (EE).
  19. Click Save to List.
  20. The List of Databases section refreshes and displays the saved sources.
  21. Click Add Database(s).
  22. The Oracle database(s) is added successfully.
