Add a Hypervisor

This section provides information about how to add a hypervisor.

Note: Discover virtual machines is not supported on Nutanix Prism Central.

Follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Settings > Infrastructure > Hypervisors.
2. On the Hypervisors page, click Add Hypervisor.
3. The Add Hypervisor dialog opens.
3. From the Site drop-down list, select a site as needed.
4. For Hypervisor Type, select the type of hypervisor as needed.
5. Based on the hypervisor type selected, specify the hostname or IP address.
6. For Port, specify the port number. The default port value is 443.
7. Notes:
• For VMware, the default port value is 443.
• For Nutanix, the default port value is 9440.
7. Type the Username and Password as needed.
8. Click Save.

The hypervisor is successfully added to the console.

Note: If no hypervisor is added to the console, then the following changes are observed in the console:

• The Add Sources from Hypervisor option does not display under Protect > Sources > Add Source(s) drop-down list.
• The Virtual Standby option does not display.
• The Create an Instant VM option is disabled the following:
• Protect > Sources > Action drop-down list
• Protect > Destinations > Data Stores > Browse Recovery Points > Action drop-down list
• The Recover VM to Alternate Location option does not display under Protect > Sources > Action drop-down list > Start Recovery.
• The Recover VM to Original Location option does not display under Protect > Sources > Action drop-down list > Start Recovery.
• The Remove Recover VM to Original Location option does not display under Protect > Sources > Action drop-down list > Start Recovery.
• The Start Recovery option does not display under Protect > Data Stores > Action drop-down list.
• The Create a Standby VM option is disabled under Protect > Destinations > Data Stores > Browse Recovery Points > Action drop-down list.
• Note: This condition is also applicable when no cloud account is added to the console.
