Differences in Retention Between ImageManager and Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage

Important: There are exceptions and differences between how retention works for Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage and how retention works for ImageManager.

These descriptions will be helpful:

Consolidated Daily File for Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage:

By default, Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage retention keeps consolidated daily images for 28 days. If you want to retain -cd files for more than 28 days, increase the value in the “Keep consolidated daily images (-cd) for at least” retention settings of the folder.

Consolidated Weekly File for Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage:

Old weekly files will be deleted when a newer monthly file is uploaded.

Consolidated Monthly File for Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage:

Old monthly files will be deleted once a newer monthly consolidation is uploaded.

Consolidated Rolling File for Arcserve Cloud Cyber Resilient Storage:

Rolling files are deleted when the newer rolling image includes the recovery data they contain.

Retention is only applied after a new image has been successfully uploaded to the cloud.

ImageManager retention:

ImageManager retention will never delete files that are dependent on other files (when Additional protection is enabled) or delete files that have an active lock. ImageManager will wait until the dependencies are removed and the lock has expired before proceeding with deletion.
