Select or Reset Agent Passwords

The first time you connect to an ImageManager agent you need to use the default password, which is "password" (without the quote marks). While connected to an agent you then need to select your own new agent password.

If you forget your selected password, you can use the Arcserve password reset utility to change it back to the default. You can then select a new password again.

To reset the agent password for ImageManager version 7.7.0 (and newer):

  1. Open a command prompt as administrator.
  2. Change to the ImageManager folder and run ImageManager.exe with the parameters listed:
  3. CD "C:/Program Files (x86)/StorageCraft/ImageManager"
    ImageManager.exe /p /r [/f]
  4. Note: If you changed the default path as shown in the prompt above, you need to use the new location.
  5. Parameters:
  6. When prompted, enter the default password which is "password" (without the quote marks).
  7. Enter your new password.
  8. Note: Do not reuse the previous password.

To reset the agent password for older versions of ImageManager:

  1. Make sure the ImageManager console is closed.
  2. Download (save) the Password Reset utility .zip file to a location of your choice.
  3. Note: The Password Reset Utility requires two files: ImageManager.ResetPassword.exe and ImageManager.ResetPassword.exe.config. Once downloaded, both files must be extracted. Previously downloaded versions of the Password Reset Utility are not compatible with ImageManager 7.0.4 and later. The new Password Reset Utility must be used.
  4. Browse to the location where you saved the zip file.
  5. Extract all files from the .zip folder.
  6. Run (as administrator) the Password Reset utility (right-click on ImageManager.ResetPassword.exe, then select Run as Administrator).
  7. Restart ImageManager.
  8. Connect to the ImageManager agent using the default password of password.
  9. When prompted, select a new agent password of your choice.
