Amazon S3 Compatible Storage Settings
The Amazon S3 location is only a replication target (storage space). ImageManager primarily replicates consolidated daily and consolidated monthly files to S3 locations. The retention and replication process allows 30-days worth of daily incrementals, plus the minimum incremental needed to connect the oldest incremental in that 30-day range to a monthly consolidation.
Note: ImageManager temporarily sends consolidated weekly files to the S3 bucket during initial replication (if they are a critical part of the image chain). When ImageManager starts replicating consolidated daily files it stops sending consolidated weekly files.
Additional Information about S3 Replication
- Only the critical images (including the consolidated rolling or -cr images) will be replicated until all critical images are in the S3 Bucket.
- If a critical -cr image is updated, it gets replicated to S3.
- When a monthly consolidated file is replicated, the previous set of dailies it replaced will be deleted.
- Note: S3 retention will purge old monthlies and old dailies that are covered by the newest rolling consolidation if rolling consolidation is enabled for the managed folder.
