System Requirements
Before installing the appliance, make sure your system meets the following requirements:
- The local physical or virtual machine must support 64-bit Ubuntu Linux v22.04 (for ShadowControl 4.5). See the Ubuntu Supported Hardware Page for detailed requirements for running Ubuntu Linux.
- Not Supported for Production Environments
- VMware Workstation
- Note: If you use VMware Workstation for a test environment do not use the Easy Install feature.
- Oracle VirtualBox
- Parallels
- Cloud-based (Azure, AWS, Google, etc.)
- Minimum System Requirements
- 2 CPU cores
- 4 GB RAM
- 80 GB disk space (128 GB recommended)
- Active Internet connection for downloading appliance components and maintaining the appliance.
- An available IP address.
- Port 443 or 8443 available for EndPoint-to-appliance communication.
- Port 5556 available for EndPoint-to-appliance communication. If this port is not open, ShadowControl cannot perform any push functions.
- Port 80 available from EndPoint-to-appliance for Linux Installations.
- Port 25 or 587 available for outbound email notifications.
- A current Web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.).
- Arcserve reserves the right to request external access to the appliance to facilitate support requests.
- This request requires external web portal access to the ShadowControl appliance on either Port 443 or 8443, which can be limited to IP addresses obtainable from Arcserve Support.
- This request requires superadmin access, or a unique superadmin user account specific for Arcserve Support.
- This request may require external SSH access (default port 22), which can be limited to IP addresses obtainable from Arcserve Support.
Warning! While other hypervisors might work for test environments, Arcserve has tested and approved ShadowControl only for use on physical hosts of Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware ESXi.
Important! The appliance’s CPU and RAM requirements are determined primarily by the number and type of EndPoints subscribed to the Appliance. Resources may need to be adjusted based on the load on the appliance.
