Continuous

The Continuous incremental backup schedule type first creates a full backup of the volume as a base image file. Subsequently, SPX creates incremental backup images on the specified schedule to capture changes to the volume. Continuous Incremental chains need to be managed by ImageManager. Un-managed chains may affect the performance of the backup job or delay the recovery process.

To create a continuous incremental backup schedule, follow these steps:

  1. Select Schedule Type > Continuous.
  2. Select the start time for the initial full backup: Immediately or Later. If Later, select a specified date and time to perform the backup.
  3. Select the schedule for each subsequent incremental backup:
  4. Important! Each backup job can support up to a total of 3 scheduling rules using either or both Add Weekly and Add Monthly schedules.

  5. Selecting All day uses a 24-hour day. Selecting All day is the same as specifying “00:00 to 23:59” in the From field.
  6. Use the Repeat every setting to specify how often to run an incremental backup—once every 15, 30, or 45 minutes or once every 1 to 12 hours.

Scheduling Example

Unlike a typical fixed schedule function in most backup software, the flexible SPX backup scheduling feature could support one job performing a backup:
