Hyper-V Host-based Backup and Restore

The Hyper-V Host-based Backup and Restore option allows you to restore your recovery points from protected host/agent machines to the server where the Hyper-V Host-based Backup and Restore is installed.

As described in step 4 of the Hyper-V Deploy Process Overview section, the Hyper-V Host-based Backup and Restore option installs an IO filter and agent to allow host-based VM backups or restores on the host machine where it is installed.

During installation:

  1. Click the Hyper-V Host-based Backup and Restore option.
  2. Enter the OneSystem IP or FQDN.
  3. Enter the OneSystem Certification Fingerprint.
  4. Enter the StorageCraft Agent Registration Token.
  5. Enter the site ID.
  6. Click Next then enter any additional information requested, or confirm entered information until the installation is complete.
  7. There is no need to restart the machine after the installation is complete.
  8. When the install wizard finishes, the agent service downloads the appliance to the default path (set in the Hyper-V role). It also creates the VM and starts the appliance. This process may take a few minutes to download, create and start the VM. When the VM starts, the system is ready to use.
