UNC Path Protection Related
- In UNC path protection, the backup job fails for multiple files or folders.
- Modified Access Control List (ACL) information is not backed up in the incremental backup job.
- Symptom
- If you create a file, modify the ACL attributes and then perform incremental backup job, the restore fails for the modified ACL.
- Note: If you modify the ACL attributes or modify the properties of the file (such as, read only, hidden, and so on), the last modified time and file size do not change. As a result, the incremental backup job does not backup the file again.
- Solution
- As a workaround, update the file or run a full backup job.
Symptom
In Linux OS, when you create multiple files or folders that are case sensitive and use UNC protection to backup in Windows, then only one file or folder is backed up at random. This issue occurs as Windows is not case-sensitive.
Solution
As a workaround, you need to rename all the files or folders with unique names in order to protect all the files or folders.
