Windows Server Core

Remote deployment of agent to Windows Server Core OS (2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022) is failing from the UDP Console UI.

Symptom

When you remotely deploy the agent to Windows Server Core OS from the UDP Console, the agent deployment fails.

Solution

Windows Server Core has minimal features to support specific server roles. The oledlg.dll file is not included with the Windows Server Core installation.

As a workaround, do the following:

1. From a full installation of Microsoft Windows Server of the same OS distribution, search for oledlg.dll.
2. Copy oledlg.dll from C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 of the Windows full installation Server, and then place it in the corresponding directories on server core.
3. Enable WOW-mode for Server Core. To enable wow-mode, run the following command:
4. dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:ServerCore-WOW64

Note: The above solution is also applicable for the silent installation of UDP Agent.
