License Related
- UDP 8.1 uses the same license as UDP 8.0, and does not need any re-activation. Most Arcserve User Licensing Portal pages use UDP 8.x to indicate its applicability for both UDP 8.0 and UDP 8.1. However, for backward compatibility reasons, a few places in the licensing portal may still display the version as UDP 8.0 instead of 8.x. This usage has no impact on the license functionalities for both versions.
- License not recognized or cannot be applied.
- The UDP licenses do not display even after the license is activated using the Order ID and Fulfillment number. The UDP licenses status does not get updated and display in the following location:
- Help > Activation and Licensing > License Management Window
- When a UDP 8.0 License Key is directly entered in the following location, the Invalid License Key message appears:
- Help > Activation and Licensing > License Management Window
- Stop the Arcserve UDP Management Service.
- Navigate to the following location where the UDP is installed:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Arcserve\SharedComponents\CA_LIC
- Extract “lic98_uninstaller.zip” file, open the command prompt, and then run the following file:
- rmlicense.bat
- Note: Make sure the CA_LIC folder has no files after performing the above steps.
- Navigate to the following location:
- C:\Program Files\Arcserve\Unified Data Protection\Management\Deployment\D2D\IntelNT\LICENSE
- Run one of the following commands:
- BaseLicInst.exe or silent.exe
- Navigate to the following location:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Arcserve\SharedComponents\CA_LIC
- To verify the license SDK version, check the properties of lic98version.exe file.
- Start the Arcserve UDP Management Service.
- Trial extension of Arcserve Backup 18.0 before UDP 8.0 in the same machine does not update the UDP 8.0 license status.
- Incorrect error message displayed in activity log when Agent version is v6.5.
- All license related messages are still logged in ARCAPP.log instead of ARCAPP_License.log
Symptom
The UDP jobs fail as the licenses are not recognized. This issue might occur when both UDP and Arcserve Backup are installed on the same server with UDP being installed first followed by Arcserve Backup installation.
Post UDP 8.0 installation, the License SDK version must be 32.
To verify the License SDK version, check the properties of CALicnse.exe file under the Details tab in the following path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Arcserve\Shared Components\CA_LIC
If the file version is 3.2.0.32, then the License SDK version is 32.
Solution
As a workaround, re-install the license SDK.
To uninstall License SDK, follow these steps:
To install License SDK, follow these steps:
Symptom
When Arcserve Backup 18.0 and Arcserve UDP 8.0 are installed on the same machine and if you initiate the trial extension for Arcserve 18.0 first, unusually the UDP 8.0 license is not received even after you perform a license refresh.
Note: When multiple Arcserve products are installed in the same machine and if you apply for trial extension of one product, the AERP updates the status on other products automatically.
Solution
As a workaround, apply the trial extension first in UDP 8.0, and then perform a license refresh from UDP. Subsequently, log into Arcserve Backup and perform a license refresh to synchronize.
Symptom
After upgrading Arcserve UDP Console to 7.0 version, when you backup Arcserve UDP Agent v6.5, the activity log displays incorrect error message asking for v6.5 license.
Solution
The message appears when you do not have adequate licenses of Arcserve UDP 7.0 available. As a solution, add licenses of Arcserve UDP 7.0.
Symptom
When you upgrade from Arcserve UDP 6.0 to Arcserve UDP 7.0 and then 7.0 Update 1, in Management\Configuration, the log4jARCAPP.properties file does not get updated to the latest 7.0 Update 1 properties.
Solution
For all license related messages, see ARCAPP.log.
