New Features and Enhancements
The following new features and enhancements are available for Arcserve UDP 9.0:
- Cloud Console: Manages RPS, Proxy, or Agents and exposes RPS S3 (and compatible) Deduplication Datastore into Cloud Console UI.
- Tool to migrate from UDP Console to Cloud Console: Supports the migration of nodes and plans from legacy UDP Console to the Cloud Console organization. For more information, see Migration from UDP Console to Cloud Console.
- SQL GUI: Supports the SQL GUI with all options equivalent to the Arcserve Backup SQL restore options and newly add Point-in-Time restore support into the UI. For more information, see Perform Point-In-Time Restore.
- Oracle RMAN: The following enhancements are available for Oracle RMAN:
- Supports the use of libssh library to replace the SSH tool
- Supports Solaris x86
- Supports restoring of PDB and its tablespaces. For more information, see Select the Oracle Database Items to Restore.
- Supports sudo user
- Removes the requirement of maintaining RPS in the same domain as that of the Windows Oracle server
- Allows to install UDP Console and RPS on different machines for Oracle RMAN protection.
- UDP Console and Reports: The following enhancements are available for UDP Console and Reports:
- Schedules the next job based on the Daily/Weekly/Monthly schedule type option selected from the Custom Backups drop-down list, where failed scheduled jobs of the previous night are processed again at the node level.
- Enables encryption for session password management during import and export.
- Allows you to define From/To date and Time for the Backup Success Rate Report and Job Status Report.
- The Backup Success Rate Report displays information about the success percentage (%) of backup jobs for Nodes, Plan Name, RPS Server, and Data Store on Daily, Weekly, and Monthly basis.
- After the merge job runs, the Custom / Manual recovery points retention still displays 1 even though all the recovery points are merged. UDP 9.0 allows you to set the custom/manual recovery points retention to 0 while running a merge job. If the number of custom Recovery Points specified are less than the existing custom Recovery Points, the oldest custom Recovery Point gets merged.
- Note: You cannot set the Custom / Manual Recovery Points Retention to 0 while adding a plan.
- Virtualization: The following enhancements are available for virtualization:
- Virtual Standby (VSB) to Microsoft Azure Generation 2 VMs supports UEFI-based Windows boot. For more information, see Add a Virtual Standby Task to the Plan.
- Supports the backup and restore of Trusted Platform Module (TPM) settings for Virtual Machines (Hyper-V and vSphere).
- OAuth2.0 Authentication support for Email Alerts: OAuth2.0 enables the safe retrieval of secure resources while protecting user credentials. The OAuth2.0 feature allows you to setup authentication for email server. For more information, see Configure Email and Alert.
- Note: The OAuth2.0 offers support only to Office 365/Outlook Mail or Google Mail service types.
- Incomplete Backup Job Status: Added incomplete job status for jobs. For more information, see Incomplete Backup Job Status Related.
- Note: For incomplete backup jobs, UDP allows you to locate the editable .ini file to remove or comment out the error ID and this amendment reinitiates and completes the backup job.
