How to Start the Linux Backup Server Automatically on SLES15

Symptom

When I install Arcserve Unified Data Protection Agent for Linux on SLES15, the Linux Backup Server does not start automatically after rebooting the SLES15 system.

Solution

After completion of installation, the Arcserve UDP Agent (Linux) service must be running on the Linux Backup Server to protect your machines. On SLES15, the service cannot start automatically after rebooting the system.

Use the following command to verify the status of service:

/opt/Arcserve/d2dserver/bin/d2dserver status

To troubleshoot, perform the following steps:

  1. Install the following packages using the zypper command:
  1. Run the following command:

    systemctl enable start-d2d

    systemctl start start-d2d

    2. Note: If Linux Backup Server is still not installed, then first install the insserv package to avoid this issue.
