Installation/Uninstallation/Remote Deployment Considerations
- For performing offline installation of UDP 9.1 through an upgrade from UDP 6.5 Update 4, 7.0, 7.0 Update 1 or 7.0 Update 2, as a prerequisite, you need to manually install the following KBs on the Windows 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2012 R2 machines.
- The following KBs are required for the installation of VS2019 on these machines to support seamless upgrade when performing an offline installation.
- Windows Server 2008 requires SP2 + Windows6.0-KB2999226-x64
- Windows Server 2008 R2 requires SP1 + Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64 and Windows6.1-KB976932-X64
- Windows 2012 Standard requires Windows8-RT-KB2999226-x64
- Windows 2012 R2 Standard requires Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64, Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64, and Windows8.1-KB2999226-x64
- At least 32 GB of free disk space is required to install Arcserve UDP and all the components, except Linux Agent, on one machine (Windows 2008 R2, Windows 2012, Windows 2012 R2, Windows 2016, or Windows 2019) using unified installer.
- If you install Arcserve UDP Agent (Windows) and do not select the Install the Arcserve UDP Agent change tracking driver option and later decide to use the same machine for performing backups, you will need to manually install the driver. You can access this driver from the Arcserve UDP Agent (Windows) home folder at the following location and run the install driver batch file:
- <Install Path>\Engine\BIN\DRIVER\InstallDriver.bat
- If you have a combination of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP1 (64-bit) and Microsoft SQL Management Studio, uninstall Microsoft SQL Management Studio before installing Arcserve UDP Agent (Windows). For more information, see Article 770630 on the Microsoft website.
- If you select Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express as the database, for Japanese, the Setup installs the Japanese version of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express. For other languages, the setup installs the English version of Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express.
- If the Arcserve UDP Version 7.0 Setup detects Arcserve UDP Exchange Granular Restore (AEGR) utility standalone Version 5.0 installed, the setup removes the existing version and installs the current version of the AEGR utility during the upgrade.
- If you install Arcserve UDP using the setup wizard and you select the backend database as SQL Express, sometimes you may see a reboot requirement message. In such cases, reboot your machine to start using Arcserve UDP .
