Because multiple backup servers share the StorageTek ACSLS tape library, you must ensure that each tape volume is assigned to only one backup server. The tape volumes assigned to each backup server must be mutually exclusive.

Important! If your Arcserve Backup servers are not in a SAN, tape volumes must be mutually exclusive to each backup server or you could lose important backup data.

Assigning mutually exclusive tape volumes requires careful planning. To assist you in your planning effort, you should document the tape volume assignment for each backup server that will share the StorageTek ACSLS tape library.
