Recover a Remote Machine

To recover a remote machine after a disaster, perform the following procedure:

  1. Indicate that you want to perform a remote Disaster Recovery if no local devices are found.

You are prompted to insert the fifth floppy disk and the Windows CD.

The Disaster Recovery Wizard copies the necessary drives needed to establish the network connection. A message then appears stating that your machine will be rebooted.

  2. Click OK to continue.

When the machine has finished rebooting, you are returned to the Disaster Recovery Wizard.

  3. Enter the name of the remote server and your domain name, user name, and password.

Note: The information that you enter in this dialog is for the remote Arcserve Backup server whose storage devices you want to use.

Important: The Arcserve Backup Tape Engine must be started on the remote machine before you attempt to establish a connection.

After you enter the required information, the Disaster Recovery Wizard automatically connects to the remote machine and displays a list of all available devices.
