Reason 1: Your password did not change at the time of the setup itself. This is because one of our processes failed to change the password. One of the possible reasons is that your machine name has extended characters or you have a machine name in language other than English. If this is the case, then perform the steps described in Debugging Authentication.
Reason 2: You have Microsoft's Service for UNIX (SFU) 3.0 installed. If that is the case, put the BSstart.bat file, which you can find under Arcserve Backup Home directory, in your startup folder so that it runs every time your computer starts. You must also set your CA Remote Procedure Call Server to manual so that it does not automatically start as a service. This problem occurs primarily because Service for UNIX has a port-mapper of its own which conflicts with the Arcserve Backup port- mapper.
