The tape volume assignments on the Arcserve Backup server define the logical library. The tape volumes configured for the Enterprise Option for IBM 3494 are not part of a physical library connected to the Arcserve Backup server, but are interpreted by Arcserve Backup as a local library. The logical library configurations have a mutually exclusive set of tape volumes or a shared set of tape volumes, depending on whether the Arcserve Backup server is in a SAN.
Note: In configurations where multiple backup servers share the Enterprise Tape Library 3494, ensure that tape drives assigned to Arcserve Backup server are not assigned to any other backup servers.
