In configurations where the CA ARCserve Backup server is not in a SAN, each CA ARCserve Backup server is directly connected to at least one tape drive in the StorageTek ACSLS tape library using independent SCSI data paths.
In configurations with multiple CA ARCserve Backup servers, each backup server is configured to control a mutually exclusive set of tape volumes in the StorageTek ACSLS tape library. Mutually exclusive tape volumes cannot be used or accessed by other backup servers attached to the network. As a result, each CA ARCserve Backup server manages a user-defined subset of tape volumes on the StorageTek ACSLS tape library that are unique to that CA ARCserve Backup server.
