Installation Prerequisites

Before installing the Arcserve Backup Agent for Lotus Domino, verify the following:

• Your system meets the minimum requirements needed to install the Arcserve Backup Agent for Lotus Domino. For a list of requirements, see the readme file.
• An additional 30 MB of hard disk space is available to install Arcserve Backup Agent for Lotus Domino.
• You have administrative privileges or the proper authority to install software on the computers where you will be installing the agent.
• To support transaction log backups, you have enabled the transaction logging option and set the transaction log style to archive.

  When enabling transaction logging, Lotus Domino turns logging on automatically for most of the databases and templates. The Lotus Domino server administrator can turn logging on and off individually for each database using the Database Advanced Properties. The Lotus Domino server administrator can also specify the location and the size of the transaction log.

Note: You do not need to install the Arcserve Backup Agent for Open Files on the Lotus Domino servers that you are protecting. The Agent for Open Files is beneficial when you want to protect files that are open or in use by active applications. Because the Agent for Lotus Domino is an application-specific agent that is dedicated to protecting Lotus Domino servers, it offers a complete solution that encompasses all the features offered by the Agent for Open Files.
