Size

The size of a database often affects when and how often you can back it up. For example, very large databases take a long time to back up. Because of the long backup time, you may have to back up very large databases only once a week, during weekends. If the size of a database indicates weekly backups, then it is vital that you archive the associated transaction log files more frequently than the database itself. If the database is also important, or volatile, you should back up the transaction log files daily.
