Non-Transportable VSS Backup and Restore - Oracle VSS Writers

A non-transportable Oracle VSS Writer session can be restored in the same way as any other Writer session. For a description of the types of restore available in the Restore Manager, see Restore Methods.

For a non-transportable Oracle VSS Writer backup, because all of the data is in a single session, the whole Writer can be selected for restore if the whole Writer was selected during the backup operation.

When you use the Agent for Open Files and select the Oracle VSS Writer for backup, all of the data is written to a single session on the backup media. To restore the whole Oracle VSS Writer, select only that one session to restore all the data. If there is more than one database, all data for the databases is in one session.
