Configure Library Devices

To configure library devices, perform the following procedure:

  1. Select Device Configuration, and choose Tape/Library from the Options screen.
  2. If your Tape Engine is running, a pop-up window appears enabling you to stop the engine.
  3. Use the Auto Config Tool, or manually highlight and assign the drives within the libraries to the respective library in which it resides.

Assigning a drive to a library allows Arcserve Backup to recognize the drive’s existence within the library. Usually the library is configured by the manufacturer in such a way that the first library drive has the lowest SCSI ID number, and the last library drive has the highest SCSI ID number.

Note: The SCSI ID number maybe assigned differently in some cases. To be sure refer to the documentation that came with your library for information on how you can configure the drives.

  4. Click Next to continue.

The Step 2 of 3 setup window appears.

  5. Highlight the library you want to configure and click Properties.

This window allows you to specify which slot holds the cleaning media and if a barcode reader is installed. (The latter is for media libraries only)

  6. Click OK to close the Properties window.
  7. Click Next to continue.

The Step 3 of 3 Setup window appears.

The following advanced options are available:

  8. Click Next to continue.

The setup summary displays the choice you made during setup.

  9. Click Finish to complete library device configuration.
