Submit a Restore Job

The following procedure assumes that your Arcserve Backup database is up-to-date and available. Although the following example uses the "Restore by Tree" source view, the basic steps can be applied using any of the source views. For more information on using a different source view, refer to Restore Methods.

  1. Click Restore from Quick Access.

The Restore Manager appears, with the default source view, Restore by Tree, selected.

  2. Select what you want to restore.

Select the Source tab and choose the view you want to use to select the source for your job. Then specify what you want to restore.

  3. Specify where you want the files restored to (Destination), and click the Destination tab.

The Restore files to their original locations option is automatically selected by default. When this option is selected, your files are restored to their original machine and path. If the original location is on a remote machine, you will be prompted to enter a valid username and password for the remote machine.

You can also clear this option and select another location using the Browser.

  4. Click Start.

    The Security dialog opens.

  5. Enter, change, or verify the username and password for the destination machine.

Note: Arcserve Backup does not support logging in to systems with passwords that are greater than 23 characters. If the password on the system you are attempting to log in to is greater than 23 characters, you must modify the password on the agent system such that it is 23 characters or less, and then you can log in to the agent system.

To enter or change the security information for a session, select the session and click Edit.

  6. Click OK to continue.

    The Session Password dialog opens.

  7. If a Session/Encryption password has been assigned, enter the session password and click OK.

The Summary dialog displays which provides information about the job type, and the destination node.

You can also add a description of the job in the space provided at the bottom of the dialog.

  8. To save this job to a script file, click Save Job.
  9. Click OK to submit this job.
