Options on the Backup Manager Start Tab

From the Backup Manager Start tab, you can select the backup type.

For each backup type, you must click the Source, Schedule, and Destination tabs to complete backup job configuration.

You may also Enable Staging. Staging operations allow you to back up data to a staging device and then migrate the backed up data to a final destination (usually a tape). You can choose to Enable Staging on Normal, Deduplication, or Data Mover backup jobs.

You can also select Enable Synthetic Full Backup. A synthetic full backup lets you synthesize a previous full session and its subsequent incremental sessions to a full session. You can choose to enable synthetic full backups on Normal backup with staging option, Deduplication backup with staging option, or Deduplication backup jobs. In addition to completing backup job information on the Source, Schedule, and Destination tabs, ensure you complete the information on the Staging Location tab and define a synthetic schedule on the Schedule tab.
